Ngorongoro Tented Camp

Ngorongoro Tented Camp is an intimate retreat set in a charming ancient acacia forest on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, adjacent to the quiet Lemala access route. The camp features nine spacious canvas tents designed to ensure privacy and minimal impact on the pristine forest environment. Each tent is equipped with two queen beds, winter weight duvets, hot water bottles, and evening gas heaters to ensure a cozy night’s sleep. The roomy en-suite bathrooms offer a dressing area, flush toilet, and a large safari shower.

The mess tent is elegantly furnished with grand sofas, lamps, bookshelves, and old wood cabinets, chests, and rugs, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. In the evening, guests gather around the campfire to share stories of the day’s safari adventures, followed by a sumptuous hearty meal. A significant advantage of staying at Ngorongoro Tented Camp is the quick and easy access to the Crater floor. Game drives can start as early as 6:15 AM, allowing guests to drive straight down to the Crater floor within 10 to 15 minutes, providing an hour’s head start over other visitors, which is crucial for photographers seeking the best light conditions. Escorted walks into the forest and along the crater rim with an armed ranger and a Maasai are also available.
